The Planning Applications relevant to Rogate Parish Council are updated here every Wed/Thur from the official list of verified applications. Whilst the Parish Council does not have the power to determine applications its local knowledge is sought on each and every application. Please let your PARISH COUNCIL know of any concerns you have about any Planning Application that directly effects YOU! Don’t lose your local voice by not telling your PARISH COUNCIL directly. Many residents assume that if they write to their District Council about a planning application directly effecting their own property, that the District Council will automatically pass on the relevant information, letter or email to the Parish Council, not true I’m afraid. District Planning Departments have no obligation to pass on any comments they have received, good or bad, so unless you tell your local Parish Council before they discuss the application, they will base their opinions on what they, the Council Members, know about the property in question and or its location. With thousands of properties to look at, it would be unreasonable to expect them to know every property or any impact it might have upon your own property. Here at RPC we have had a couple of instances recently were having failed to be notified of neighbourly concerns, the Planning Committee have approved an Planning Application, only to told afterwards of the concerns of neighbours and asked to look again at the application or even to change the decision, unfortunately once a decision has been made and notified to CDC it is not the policy of the Planning Committee to revisit a previous application. So the simple answer is tell BOTH Councils of your concerns, if the Planning Committee think a site visit would be of benefit in enabling them to come to the correct and informed decision, they are quiet within their rights to ask the person or persons making the planning application to meet members of the committee on site and see first hand just what is proposed. But remember your Parish Councillors are not paid professionals, they have jobs and families just like all of us, so time taken to visit building sites are not to be expected for every application but are preferred by committee members if felt needed. |

A) Public Participation & opportunity for the public to ask a question or express a view on agenda item; None. 1) Apologies for absence were accepted from Cllr; Katrina Baker, Pauline Berrisford-Hill & Trudy Coles. 2) Declarations of any personal or prejudicial interest; None were reported. 3) Confirmation & signing of the Minutes of the previous Planning & General Purpose Committee meeting were agreed by those Councillors present and signed by the Chairman. 4) Matters arising from those Minutes; a). Brick Kiln Copse Farm; The Clerk informed the meeting that he had been advised by CDC that legal proceedings were ongoing and had no further update at that time. b). Briarswood, Nyewood; The possibility that the bungalow was being converted into a storage barn was discussed. c). Dangstein Estate; RPC Chairman Peter Moss said he had spoken to The Forestry Commission regarding the fencing being used along Fyning Lane next to the tree coppicing & roadways who along with CDC, had approved this new wire fence. He continued that he had been approached by Cllr Sara O’Brien-Twohig regarding her own investigations into the new roadway/tracks that had been opened up within the old estate recently and that he had written to CDC regarding this and other matters and awaited their response. d). Cemex West Heath Quarry; With the application to extend the life of this quarry being summated to WSCC some concerns regarding the historic bridge at the old mill were raised and it was agreed to talk with Andrew Shaxson regarding provisions to be put in place to make Cemex responsible for the bridges care & upkeep. 5) New Planning Applications:- Please see below items; 6) Applications for the use of Fyning Recreation Grounds; Applications from various groups were discussed and agreed. 7) Any other business not covered elsewhere; The appeal being withdrawn regarding: RG/09/03275/ELD/Coloured Ponds was noted. Roadside Signage & Advertising; Concerns over the spate of new roadside signage that had appeared recently was discussed and the Clerk was asked to look into the matter.
